Racing will be under the authority of the Elwood Sailing Club (ESC) governed by the Notice of Race (NOR) Lightning Regatta 2023, the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2021-2024 and the Yachting Australia (Australian Sailing) Prescriptions there-to, including Special Regulations Part 2 for off-the beach boats.
The 2023 Top of the Bay Challenge will be held at Port Melbourne Yacht Club on Saturday 11th February. Racing will start at 2:00pm. Depending on numbers, we may deploy Seahorse 1 as a safety escort for boats sailing to the regatta from Elwood and back again. If you are interested in sailing in the Top of the Bay, please let Amanda know so we can finalise support plans.

The General Committee has approved changes to the by-law Section 4 covering Boatshed and Outside Storage. The changes relate to:
– Use of the Sailor App instead of cards to sign on and off for races, which feeds in to the storage points calculation
– SUP storage allocation process
– Ability for a member to store one SUP within that members allocated boat storage spot
– Storage of A-class catamaran beach wheels on the boat unless used for ground level storage, and removal of rudders from A-class in their storage spots when practical.
– Approval required for storage of a boat on the floor in the general area, for a maximum of one week
– Potential penalties in the event of a breach of any storage by-law will include a 5 point storage penalty, or removal of the offending boat/equipment to the outside storage area pending resolution
– Other minor changes

Make sure you’re using the correct Calendar
Attached is a copy of the Duty Roster up to the end of December 2022. Please check the roster and make a note of the days which you have been rostered on.
If you are unable to attend your rostered day, then it is your responsibility to arrange a swap, and notify the following people. The earlier the swap can be arranged, the better.
You can use the Sailor App to see all members who have been rostered on. This is located within the ‘Member’s Only – Duty Roster’ section of the Sailor App.
You also have the ability to contact a member via this section to help with arranging a duty swap.
Sailor App
We will once again be using the Sailor App to manage the racing operations of the club. This includes, the Sign On and Sign Off procedure. It will be the same as in previous years.
For our new members, then please read the attached document for how to setup and register the Sailor App on your phone. You will need to do this before you can Sign On for your first race.
If you have any trouble or questions with the Sailor App, then please let Paul (pdstamp84@tpg.com.au) know.
