Patrol Boat Operations Refresher – Thursday 17th February

 Rear Commodore Ken Robinson and his motley crew will be running a Patrol & Rescue boat operations refresher session this Thursday 17th February, leaving from from the St Kilda Marina public dock next to the main boat ramp at 6pm sharp.

This session is open to all members with their power boat operations license and is intended to help members gain the experience & confidence to be able to take charge of and skipper the ESC patrol & rescue boats when on duty. Please note the illistrated manoeuvre will not be on the on curriculum!    

North 1 Hour Windsurf Race – Sat 22 Jan 2011

Elwood Sailing Club in conjunction with RPS and Windsurfing Victoria are hosting the Annual North 1 Hour Race at the Elwood Sailing Club. This race is based on how many laps you can do in an hour.  It is a great race for the sailors and for spectators.

After the race join everyone in the club for a BBQ.   If the wind is too light for sailing, then there will be a SUP (stand up paddle board) event and RPS will bring down some demo SUPs for those of us who don’t have one.

Registration (entry form) will be from 2pm and race briefing will be at 3:30pm for a 4pm race. BBQ at 6pm.

All ESC club members welcome to join us.

Aloha ESC goes Hawaiian- New Years Eve Party

Elwood Sailing Club will be going Hawaiian this New Years Eve, so get into your favorite loud shirt/tropical gangster/big kahuna/Hawaii Five-0/wahini/hula dancing outfits, gather up your family and friends and join in the fun!

Kickoff will be after the National E championship presentation from 8pm going through to till 1am, entry is FREE, drinks are at bar prices, BYO nibbles or barbeque goodies.

Santa’s Last Chance – Booking close Wednesday 15th!!! 

Santa’s on his way back to ESC, and he’s jollier than ever!

Santa will be visiting the Elwood Sailing Club Christmas party around 5pm after sailing on Saturday 18th December, so be there to share in the fun. Finger food and a barbecue will be available on the night.

Tickets are only $10 for adults & kids and will be available at the canteen, bar or from the office from this Saturday, or email Mark at manager@elwoodsc.com to reserve tickets.

National E Australian Titles 27th to 31st Dec 2010

ESC is hosting the National E Australian Championships during the Christmas break from 27 December to 31 December 2010.

For all members of ESC – we need VOLUNTEERS. Being involved as a volunteer is a great opportunity to add to your sailing knowledge and sharpen your race management skills.

If you can help on any one or more of the days listed, your services would be greatly appreciated.Duties involves  car and trailer marshalling, patrol boat crewing, general duties around club, assisting with launching and retrieval of yachts from the water. (Nothing to onerous).  Could you please email Mark Foster if you can help out.

Sailboard Sternchaser 13 November – Results

ESC and Windsurfing Victoria ran a series of  3 Sternchaser races in rapid succession in filthy brown bay rainy conditions with a lot of fun by all.   Duncan Banks blitzed the field on a borrowed Super X Board.

It was great to see every one stay on for the after-sail drinks and bbq and be joined by friends and families.  Thanks to Giles for persevering in the rain to cook up what must be the best bbq cookup we have had yet.
