Two 125s left Elwood Sailing Club via a container for the National Titles in Perth. Which was a mission in itself – with a race to get the boats there on time.
Jamie Thomson took Slow Boat and Geoff, Hugh and Rufus Craig took Boarlistic. Despite the weather being extremely hot – typical WA – the regatta was extremely competitive but amazing fun. The winds were lighter than expected with some quite shifty weather. The series was successful with a win of the Open Title by Jamie Thomson and Katie Gill (Ex Elwood SC members – who now live in Perth), this was Jamie’s eighth title and Katie’s third.
We also took back a trophy for the club by winning the Family Division. Triumph by Elwood’s SC members and ex members all around
At Elwood Sailing Club we pride ourselves on being a family friendly, inclusive and active club. To further these values we welcome Kate Lathouras as the interim new training manager. Kate brings a wealth of experience from her competitive sailing background to her professional knowledge in program management and looks forward to building a platform for junior and youth sailors here at Elwood Sailing Club. Kate also works as the Communications Officer for Yachting Victoria. Please introduce yourself if you see her around the Club.
Ever wanted to sail or get to know one of the most exciting catamarans in the world?
Well here is your chance.
Saturday 5th of March from 9am to Midday.
Come down to the club to see the F16 and F18 catamarans. Both an F16 and an F18 will be on display but the day will be focused on the F16. Association president, Mark Stichbury-Cooper will be here to show off his Viper F16 and answer any questions you may have. He will have information on new and second-hand F16.
For those of you who are serious about getting into a F16 or F18, today will be your day of discovery. Note this is not a general come and try day, a test sail will be made available either by making a booking on the day or if time permits, those who are seriously interest in getting into the class may be able to take the F16 or the F18 for a spin.
